Kim Gwangsu (Korean calligrapher and collector, 1699-1770)
|
Note: A literati of the late Joseon period, Kim Gwangsu was a collector, connoisseur, calligrapher, and painter. As a fervent supporter of the Chinese literati culture of the Ming Dynasty, Kim applied a discerning eye for the arts and his broad cultural knowledge to collect paintings, calligraphic works, inscriptions on metal and stone, and ancient bronzeware. He was one of the major art patrons from the first half of the eighteenth century. |
