Villa Giulia Painter (Greek vase painter, active ca. 475-450 BCE)
|
Note: Approximately 120 vases have been attributed to the Villa Giulia painter. His figures are often depicted pouring a libation, and in some cases are depicted holding, or near, a krater or chiton. His mythological themes included Perseus sneaking up to the Gorgon, and Herakles being robbed by satyrs. Other themes include athletes, dancing maenads, or youths. Stylistically, the Villa Giulia Painter's work stems from the workshop of the Brygos Painter in his cups, and from the Berlin Painter in his vases. |
