Alinari, Leopoldo (Italian photographer, 1832-1865)

Note: From 1845 to 1850 Leopoldo worked for Giuseppe Bardi, learning lithography and daguerreotypy. In 1852 Leopoldo organized a small photo lab with Bardi in Florence called "Fratelli Alinari presso Bardi" (Alinari Brothers for Bardi). In 1854 Leopoldo bought the business from Bardi and along with his brothers Giuseppe and Romualdo, created the company "Fratelli Alinari Fotografi Editori". Leopoldo acted as photographer, Giuseppe as organizer and Romualdo as administrator. Located in Florence, the company started by reproducing works of art and by taking views of Tuscany, Rome and Pisa.
