Pešánek, Zdeněk (Czech sculptor and architect, 1896-1965)

Note: Artist and architect known for his pioneering work in developing kinetic and light-based sculpture. Born at Kutná Hora, Bohemia, then a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, into a family of pipe organ builders. He attended the School of Monumental Masonry at Hořice, Bohemia, and the Prague Academy of Fine Arts. Associated with Jaromír Fiala, with whom he realized works from 1933 to 1940. Pešánek received a gold medal at the World Exposition, Paris in 1937. Published a book, "Kinetismus" in 1941. None of the kinetic light constructions he created are known to be extant. Czech sculptor.
