Horenbout, Gerard (South Netherlandish painter, born before 1465, died in or before 1541, active in England)

Note: Gerard Horenbout worked for a wealthy, international clientele. In the first years of the 1500s, James IV commissioned him to produce a book of hours, and in 1515 Margaret of Austria named him court painter and valet de chambre. In the 1520s, he moved to England and received an annuity from the English royal court. His daughter Susanna also became a celebrated painter for the English court.
