Normand, Charles (French architect, designer, and engraver, 1765-1840)

Note: He was awarded the Grand Prix de Rome in 1792. Normand was a member of the Académie des beaux-arts. He is best known for thousands of engraved plates, mainly produced 1800-1815, for Charles Percier and Pierre-Frangois-Lionard Fontaine's 'Recueil de dicorations intirieures' which defines the Empire style. Normand's own designs for furniture, vases and ornamentsare in the Neo-classical style, published in the 'Dicorations intirieures et extirieures,' on which he collaborated with the sculptor, Pierre-Nicolas Beauvallet.
