Record Type: Corporate Body
Rustic Group (Greek vase painters, active late 5th and early 4th centuries BCE in Lucania)

Note: The vases produced in this group have a curious rustic or provincial look to them, suggesting that the artists were somewhat remote from current artistic developments. The are closely related to and contemporary with later Amykan vase painters and the painters of the Intermediate Group. This can be seen in similarities in the treatment of drapery, the handling of anatomy, hair styles, and decorative patterns. There is also a distant influence of early Apulian vase painting, particularly that of the Sisyphus Painter.

Additional Notes:
French .....
Italian .....
