Tommaso da Modena (Italian painter, 1325 or 1326-before 1379)

Note: Son, and probably student, of a Modenese painter named Barisino Barisini (active from 1317, died 1343). In the late 1350s he was regarded as Italy's leading painter (especially of frescoes) and his influence was felt beyond Italy to Bohemia (via panels sent to Karlštejn for the Emperor Charles IV). He paintings show his deep interest in the depection of fashions as well as objects in their settings.
