Critz, Thomas de (English decorative painter, 1607-1653)
|
Note: Thomas de Critz was a decorative painter who was entrusted with the job of restoring and cleaning King Charles I's paintings, including works by Titian. Mary Edmond convincingly argued that Thomas de Critz was the author of the series of portraits (ca. 1645) of the Tradescant family in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, which are considered one of the highest achievements of native English painting of the period. |
