Note: Menken is known for the avant-garde films she made from the 1940s-1960s. She was married to the writer and filmmaker Willard Maas, and it is said they inspired Edward Albee's "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" She appeared onscreen in Warhol's "The Chelsea Girls." |
