Escosteguy, Pedro (Brazilian painter and poet, 1916-1989)

Note: Received a medical degree from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in 1938. He was a member of the Quixote poetry group in the 1950s, was the editor of Cadernos de Poesia, and published two books of his own poetry. He began making paintings in the studio of Antônio Dias in 1964, and subsequently participated in many exhibitions. He wrote 'Declaration of Basic Principles of the Avant-garde' in 1967. He returned to poetry in 1980.
