Prévost, Jean (French glass painter and glazier, died 1503 or 1504)
|
Note: Prévost was appointed master glazier and painter of Lyon Cathedral on 5 September 1471, after his father-in-law Laurent Girardin resigned from the position. None of his work for the cathedral survives. Prévost was in turn succeeded by Pierre de Paix in 1498, but he continued to paint. He was also responsible for organizing the preparations in 1476 for the entry into Lyon of Louis XI, and in 1485, with Jean Perréal, for the entry of Cardinal-Archbishop Charles II de Bourbon. He also made scenery and costumes for morality plays and royal coats of arms in Lyon. Prévost garnered attention after Dupieux suggested that he was the Master of Moulins, a hypothesis that has been rejected by more recent scholars, notably Reynaud (1978). |
