CIAM (International architectural organization, 1928-1959)
|
Note: International organization of architects found in 1928 in Switzerland by Hélène de Mandrot, Le Corbusier, and Sigfried Giedion. CIAM established the modern movement as an organized body, bringing together ideas from members of the Bauhaus, Der Ring, and DeStijl. During the 1930s and early 1950s, it was the premier international forum for the discussion and dissemination of ideas on modern architecture and urban planning. When a younger generation of architects challenged the ideas of CIAM, this resulted in its formal dissolution in 1959. |
