Note: Educated in England, he made his reputation as the innovative designer of ship interiors for the Orient Line in the 1930s. He was appointed architect for the National Theatre from 1946-1962, designed the Country Pavilion at the Festival of Britain in 1951, and was architect of the new Royal Observatory, Herstmonceaux, 1951-1958. |
