Fathy, Hassan (Egyptian architect, 1899-1989)
|
Note: Architect known for his work with traditional mud-brick housing of the poor populations of North Africa. His most well-known project in this vein was the village of New Gourna (1948), an entire village comprised of mud-brick structures for public use and for housing. Although approximately one-quarter of the village was eventually completed, it remains a strongly influential architectual model. Egyptian architect. |
