Bergant, Fortunat (Slovenian painter, active in Austria, 1721-1769)
|
Note: Bergant trained in Stein, Carniola (Austria), where his father was a chest-maker. He was influenced by the Slovene Baroque painters Valentin Metzinger and Franc Jelovsek, and by sculptors Francesco Robba and a group of anonymous Franciscan carvers who were working around Laibach in the 1730s and 1740s. |
