Leighton, John (British illustrator, designer, photographer, 1822-1912)

Note: An illustrator, book cover designer, and amateur photographer, Leighton studied as an artist in the studios of Henry Howard and Thomas Seddon. He wrote and illustrated a number of works under the pseudonym of Luke Limner. An amateur photographer, he produced Calotype and collodion process photographs, which he contributed to The Sunbeam and other collective publications under the name Phoebus. |
