Ludlam, Charles (American actor and playwright, 1943-1987)

Note: Founder of the Ridiculous Theatrical Company, active in New York City. Graduated Hofstra University, 1965. He made his first stage appearance in 1966 with the Play-House of the Ridiculous, the group founded by Ronald Tavel and John Vaccaro. Ludlam began his own company in 1967. His flamboyant productions were based on classic dramatic and operatic themes. Since his death in 1987 the Ridiculous Theatrical Company has been under the direction of Ludlam's partner Everett Quinton.
