Penttilä, Timo (Finnish architect and urban planner, born 1931)
|
Note: Mid-twentieth century modernist architect and urban planner studied with Arne Ervi, who had himself served as an assistant to Alvar Aalto. Penttilä's realized works of the 1960s include the Sampola Civic School and Worker's Institute (1958-1962), the Commercial Institute (1958-1965), and the Ratina Stadium (1960-1967) in Tampere, and the Helsinki Municipal Theater (1967). In the 1970s he worked on a design for the city center at Tapiola and the Hanasaari Power Station. In 1979 he became a citizen of Austria and began teaching at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Vienna. Finnish architect. |
