Toyota, Yutaka (Japanese sculptor and printmaker, born 1931, active in Brazil)
|
Note: He studied at the Tōkyō Geijutsu Daigaku (Tokyo University of the Arts). Among other awards, he received the prize of the 10th Biennial of São Paulo (1969). At the beginning, in Japan, he made figurative paintings. In Brazil, his work tended to informalism, with geometric forms showing the gestures that created them. Subsequently, he dedicated himself to op art. More recently, he produced sculptures made for large spaces. |

Entre outros prêmios, recebeu o da 10ª Bienal de São Paulo (1969). No início, ainda no Japão, fez pintura figurativista. Quando no Brasil, sua obra tendeu ao informalismo, com formas geométricas deixando perceptíveis os gestos que lhes deram origem. Posteriormente, dedicou-se à op art. Mais recentemente, tem se dedicado à produção de esculturas pensadas para grandes espaços. |
