Record Type: Corporate Body
Gilbert & George (English sculptors, working together from 1967)

Note: British sculptors George Passmore and Gilbert Proesch met in St. Martin's School of Art in London in 1967. Their first performances were known as 'living sculptures' and incorporated mime. Their later work takes the form of brash, brightly-colored photographs organized to form larger pictures which feature the artists themselves. They have worked in a variety of media, but prefer to refer to all of their art as "sculpture."
