Note: Aiton was the head gardener at the gardens now known as the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew from 1759 until his death. Aiton was also head gardener at Richmond Gardens from 1783. Aiton wrote 'Hortus Kewensis: A Catalogue of the Plants Cultivated in the Royal Garden at Kew' which was first published in 1789. |
