Outcault, Richard Felton (American cartoonist, 1863-1928)

Note: Outcault is widely regraded as one of the originators of the the comic strip and was one of the earliest newspaper comic artists. He introduced the "The Yellow Kid" in 1895, and "Buster Brown" in 1902. He pioneered not only the development of the Sunday funnies, but also the merchandising of comic characters.
