Victorian Artists, via WWW, April 27, 2017 (James Hardy Jr. (1832-4 April 1889); his father was the landscape painter James Hardy, Sr. and his brother was Heywood Harris; his cousin was Frederick Daniel Hardy; a painter of rustic landscapes and hunting scenes, Hardy specialized in sporting scenes depicting dogs and game, usually set in highland scenery; he painted both in oil and watercolor; he removed to London in 1880 and exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1862 and 1886; he also exhibited at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Author Tooth & Sons Gallery, Royal Society of British Artists, the British Institution, the Suffolk Street Gallery and the New Watercolor Society; he lived all his life in Bristol and died there on April 4, 1889)
