Note: Village located on Ner River, infamous as the site of the first Nazi concentration camp to conduct mass executions of Jews, which was in operation from 1941-1945. The camp was divided into two parts: a "killing center" where victims were gassed in mobile killing vans, which was located in and around a manor house in the center of town, and a forest clearing on the outskirts of the village, where mass graves were located. At least 152,000 people were killed by the SS at Chełmno.
