Note: Kastamonu was an important Byzantine town. It was taken by Seljuq Turks in the late 11th century, and later seized by rival amīrs 12th century. It was incorporated into the Ottoman Empire in 1393. Today Kastamonu is famous for copper utensils. It is the site of a small museum, a sugar factory, and school for training teachers. |
