Note: The city of Velbert is situated in the Ruhr valley, northeast of Düsseldorf. First mentioned in 875, it was an important center in medieval times. As it has done since the 16th century, it manufactures locks, keys, and other iron goods. It hosts a well-known state art museum, Schloss Hardenberg. Its estimated population for 2004 was 89,800.
