Note: Ruins of Roman settlement that includes baths with elaborate heating, a temple with an altar bearing the name 'Hadrian', a fort and an aqueduct; the town was enclosed within walls and well laid out; the prisoners of the penal colony worked the quarries here, which supplied Rome with black granite columns, some of which can be seen today in the Pantheon and Trajan's Forum; textiles have also been excavated here; today, hot springs well up inside the ruins.
