Note: Was an ancient city of Phocis, between Delphi & Gulf of Corinth; became a powerful city-state that gave its name to the Crissaean plain and the Crissaen gulf. Was destroyed by the religious league Amphictyonic Council in First Sacred War ca. 590 BCE; the town of Amphissa attempted to rebuild it in 339 BCE, causing Fourth Sacred War.
