Note: Classic Mayan site that covers over 300 acres. About 492 structures have been documented, from large pyramidal structures to small residential buildings. Was founded by an offshoot of the dynasty of the great city of Tikal in 629 CE in order to control trade routes in the Petexbatún region. Site contains hieroglyphic inscriptions.
