Note: Located in the Fergana Valley of eastern Uzbekistan, Namangan dates to the 15th century as an important trade center for nomads. By 1876, when the Russians annexed the city and surrounding region, Namangan was noted as a center for craftsman. Cotton and agricultural materials are the main industries.
