Note: Kingdom of nomadic tribes, named after first sovereign, Kidara. Rulers considered themselves heir to the Kushans. Territory covered parts of present-day Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan, with the capital at Ying-chien-shih, likely near Bactria. Archaeological evidence suggests that the Kidarites assimilated the main achievements of conquered peoples. Fell to the Hephthalites towards the end of the 5th century.
