Note: Former landmass that connected Great Britain to mainland Europe at the time of the last Ice Age, now submerged in the southern North Sea. It comprised a forested land from Britain to the present coast of the Netherlands, Germany, and Denmark. Artifacts of animal and human habitation from the Mesolithic period have been recovered here.
