Note: This is a federally-recognized reservation stewarded by the Mojave Indian Tribe. The reservation comprises nearly 42,000 acres in the Arizona, California, and Nevada tri-state area, spanning Mojave County, Arizona; Clark County, Nevada; and San Bernardino County, California. The present Reservation boundaries stretch along the banks of the Colorado River. The Reservation was established trough a series of General and Executive Orders dating from August 4, 1870 to February 2, 1911 on the former site of Fort Mojave, a military outpost and boarding school built by settlers who crossed the Colorado River via the California Trail. Additional reservation lands were later purchased by the Tribe using tribal funds. |
