Note: This is a federally-recognized reservation stewarded by the Kalispel Tribe of Indians. The reservation spans over 4,600 acres on the east bank of the Pend Oreille River in Pend Oreille and Spokane Counties, Washington. Though the Kalispel people traditionally occupied the land surrounding the Pend Oreille River since before European contact, they were not formally granted a land base until March 13, 1914, when president Woodrow Wilson allocated approximately 4,480 acres (7 square miles) to the Tribe. Since its initital establishment, the reservation has gained approximately 2,560 acres (4 square miles) of trust land.
