Note: This is a federally-recognized reservation stewarded by the Cher-Ae Heights Indian Community of the Trinidad Rancheria, with ancestral ties to the Yurok, Witoy, and Tolowa peoples. The reservation spans 47 acres of coastal bluffs, redwoods, and rocky shorelines just south of the Redwood National Park in Humboldt County, California. The Rancheria land was first appropriated through the Acts of June 9, 1906 and April 30, 1908, when the Federal Government purchased small tracts of land for displaced California Indians. It was officially established as a Rancheria by the Secretary of the Interior in 1917. |
