Note: Located on Istria peninsula adjacent to Adriatic Sea. Poreč was mentioned by Livy in battles between the Romans and Histri (178-177 BCE). Tiberius made the city Colonia Iulia Parentium. Before 1947, the city belonged to Italy, then later Yugoslavia, and finally independent Croatia. The city is the site of the 6th-century Euphrasian Basilica. The "Episcopal Complex of the Euphrasian Basilica in the Historic Centre of Poreč" was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997.
