Note: Yazd dates from the 5th century CE, and became a major Zoroastrian city during Sasanian rule, and remains the last center of that religion in the country. It was a major stop along the Silk Road. The city is home to the Friday Mosque, or Masjed-e Jomʻeh, dating from 1375, has the largest minarets in Îrān. Yazd is an important center for silk weaving. |
