Note: This is a federally-recognized reservation stewarded by the Cocopah Indian Tribe. It comprises three noncontiguous bodies of land known as the North, West, and East Reservations, which together span 6,500 acres along the Colorado River in Yuma County, Arizona. The reservation was first established by President Woodrow Wilson in 1917 through Executive Order No. 2711.This Order specifically established the West and East Reservationss. In accordance with the 1985 Cocopah Land Acquisition Bill, signed by President Ronald Reagan, the Tribe was able to acquire the North Reservation of 4,200 acres. |
