Note: The Commonwealth Avenue Mall is part of the Emerald Necklace, an 1,100 acre linear system of parks in Boston connected by parkways designed by Frederick Law Olmsted. The Emerald Necklace includes nine parks, beginning at the Boston Common and ending at Franklin Park. The Commonwealth Avenue Mall is located in the Back Bay neighborhood of Boston, and provides the green link between the Public Garden and the Back Bay Fens. The Mall encompasses 32 acres and was designed in the French boulevard style by Arthur Gilman in 1856. |
