Note: This is a federally-recognized reservation stewarded by the Manzanita Band of the Kumeyaay Nation. The reservation spans approximately 3,579 acres in southeastern San Diego County, California, within 10 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border. It lies adjacent to the Campo Indian Reservation on the south and the La Posta Reservation on the west. Though the Kumeyaay Nation, from which the Manzanita Band descends, traditionally occupied lands north and south of the Mexican border from the Pacific coast to the Colorado River, the Manzanita Band did not receive a federally-recognized reservation until 1893. At this time, an Executive Order of 1891 was fulfilled, providing the Band with a 640-acre reservation. The reservation land base was expanded by Departmental Order in 1907.
