Note: This is a federally-recognized reservation stewarded by the Coeur d'Alene Tribe. The reservation spans over 345,000 acres of land in Benewah and Kootenai Counties, Idaho, including areas in Palouse farm country and at the western edge of the northern Rocky Mountains. Tribally owned lands total about 69,000 acres, while the rest of the reservation's land is privately owned. Because the reservation includes over 150,000 acres of farmland, its economy is primarily based on agricultural production. The reservation was originally established by an Executive Order of 1873.
