Note: The German village of Trechtinghausen is located on the Rhine river in the Mainz-Bingen area. It is rural in character with several fine pieces of historic architecture, including the medieval castle of Reichstein, the Clements Chapel, a romanesque basilica built in the 11th century, with an octagonal tower and an interesting choir, the remnants of a medieval weir system, and an old military wall along the river with a gate with a round tower with battlements.
