Note: Meshgīn Shahr is located in the northwest of Irān. East of the main square is an inscription of Shapour II (309-379 CE) from the Sassanid dynasty (224-651 CE). An additional site of this period is the Kohneh Castle on the eastern slope of the Baq Nowruz Valley which has an inscription with Pahlavi script on it. Although it started developing during the Arab Invasion of Îrān it grew during the Safavid dynasty (1501-1736). |
