Note: Būshehr is a coastal region in the southwestern part Iran with the Persian Gulf in the west. Būshehr is surrounded by Hormozgan and Fars from southeast and east and Khuzestan on the northwest. Its landscape is dominated by the Zagros Mountains and the Shapur River provides access to the Persian Gulf. Būshehr played a major role in the trade of Persian carpets with the Europeans. This trade boomed in the 1780s and 1790s when the merchants of the English East India Company began trading this products through Bushehr. At present, the city has emerged as a major oil and natural gas terminal in Iran. The inhabitants work in the agriculture industry and produce wheat, barley, date palms, mangoes, and citrus fruits. |
