Note:
Sakalava kingdom founded in the 17th century, between the Manambalo and Mahajamba rivers. Together with that kingdom of Menabé, in the 18th century Boina controlled most of western Madagascar. Queen Ravahiny's death in 1808 sparked struggles over succession and led to eventual conquest by the Merina by 1850.
