Note: This is a federally-recognized reservation stewarded by the Greenville Rancheria of Maidu Indians. The reservation spans approximately 51 acres of land in the Indian Valley in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Northern California. It specifically lies in what is now Plumas County, California. It was initially created by an act of Congress on June 18, 1934 and was called the Indian Mission. In 1964, however, tribal and reservation recognition was terminated. Pursuant to the Tillie Hardwick v. United States of America court case, the part of the reservation lands were restored under the name Greenville Rancheria in 1983. The tribe acquired the reservation's remaining acreage in November 1994. |
