Note: This is a federally-recognized reservation stewarded by the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe. The reservation spans 2,500 acres located along and near the Big Sioux River, adjacent to the city of Flandreau, in Moody County, South Dakota. Although members of the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe had been homesteading near Flandreau since 1868, the Tribe's reservation was not officially established until 1934 under the authority of the Indian Reorganization Act. |
