Note: This is a federally-recognized reservation stewarded by the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas (KTTT), one of three federally-recognized Kickapoo tribes in the United States. The reservation spans over 125 acres of land by the Rio Grande on the US-Mexico border in Maverick County, Texas. It was officially established in 1983, but the Kickapoo had lived in the area since the 1800s, leaving their historic homes in Wisconsin and the upper Midwest due to colonial pressure. |
