Note: Collective name, and a museum site related to, a group of villages and small communities displaced during the building of the St. Lawrence Seaway and the International Hydro Electric project. The villages were flooded on July 1, 1958, in what became known as Inundation Day. The villages that were displaced were: Mille Roches, Moulinette, Wales, Dickinson’s Landing, Farran’s Point, Aultsville, Maple Grove, Santa Cruz, Woodlands, and the community on Sheek Island. Parts of the existing towns of Iroquois and Morrisburg were also flooded and/or relocated. |
